Local Governing Body
Role of the Local Governing Body:
- Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction.
- Holding the headteacher to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils and the performance management of staff.
- Overseeing the financial performance of the school and making sure its money is well spent.
The Local Governing Body (LGB) at Ambleside Church of England Primary School:
Our LGB bring a range of experience to help our school to achieve its vision. Although we are volunteers, we are professional, committed and passionate about what we do. We work closely with the Good Shepherd Trust to ensure that the school is providing the best education for the children in the school and to ensure that staff are well supported in all aspects of their roles.
The full LGB meet every term and, in addition to this, we run two committees which also meet every term: Curriculum Committee (who are responsible for monitoring and evaluating the impact of the school's curiculum and the quality of teaching) and the Finance, Buildings and Health and Safety Committee (who meet to ensure that the finances of the school are managed effectively, the condition of the building is well-maintained and that all aspects of health and safety requirements are being met by the school). The Good Shepherd Trust also meet with members of the LGB every term to discuss and evaluate the work carried out in school.
